The Population Specialty Group is pleased to continue encouraging student engagement in active and original research in population geography by graduate and undergraduate students.
The Student Paper Award will again be showcased at the PSG Business Meeting of the Annual Meeting of AAG. The specifics of the PSG Student Paper Competition are as follows:
- Students are to submit an extended abstract of approximately 1000 words to the Committee Chair by November 10, 2012.
- The PSG Student Paper Award Committee will select between 4 and 10 papers for the competition by the AAG paper submission deadline in October. Papers selected for the competition can be presented in any session of the authors’ choosing, and the authors will have their registration fees reimbursed by the PSG;
- Final drafts of papers are due to the Committee Chair via e-mail by March 1, 2013 and are to be limited in length to 30 double-spaced pages including figures, tables and references.
- The PSG Student Paper Award Committee will make a decision of the student paper prize, an award of $300, based on the quality of the written paper. Honorable mention prizes of $100 may also be awarded. Winners will be announced at the PSG Specialty Group Business Meeting. To be eligible for the award competitors must present the paper at the AAG and attend the PSG Specialty Group Business Meeting.
